Furious Gulf

Furious Gulf: A Galactic Center Novel
By: Gregory Benford
Published:1994

In the Far Future the Spaceship Argo hurtles towards the center of are galaxy. Aboard, is a crew of human refugees fleeing their lost worlds, and ever hunted by Mechs, Artificial Intelligences, that seek the destruction of humanity for reasons hidden. Toby is one such refugee and son of Argos captain, Killeen. As Toby enters that painful period between childhood/adulthood, he will encounter mysteries and terrors beyond his comprehension, for at the heart of the galaxy may lie the key to humanities salvation, yet in such a hostel place, salvation can be fleeting.

All I can say is WOW. This book is amazing. Gregory Benford, a professor of physics and astronomey, obviously knows his tech stuff, but where he really shine is in describing Toby, and envoking a sense of awe and fear and most of all plausabilty. Toby becomes real. Amazing work Mr. Benford.

***** out of ***** Must Read

Note: This is the 5th book in Benfords Galactic Center Saga (of 6) and the only one to date read by me.
