Helleluya

With everything that's going on in the world this seems oddly (not to mention disturbingly) appropriate.

The bands name is Vader and the song is "Helleluya (God is Dead)" from there "Impressions in Blood" Album.

From Dark Lyrics

Passing the empty house
I see the thing upon the Wall
Wooden sticks crossed together
And kneeling man talking to the effigy of steel...
God is Dead!!! Dead!!! Helleluyah!!!

Smell of burnt bodies
Slaughtered virgin lies dead without the face
Men staring at the skies
Singing lines and eating sand of waste...
God is Dead!!! Dead!!! Helleluyah!!!

Wandering the globe around
I saw no miracles nor wonders
Humanity so poisoned by their myths
Why none can see my wings?!
God is Dead!!! Dead!!! Helleluyah!!!

1991: At the end of the Gulf War, Major Peter Ford is witness to the massacre of a small village by Republican Guard forces. Though Ford presents evidence to his superiors the man responsable is never brought to justice.

Several years later Fords former superior officer Col. Ted Nicholson is murdered in Berlin for getting to close to the man responsable for the massacre. Ford sets out to find the truth in a journey that will take him across two contenents and into a world of smugglers, mercenaries and secret agents.

Not the best example of it's genra, still this novel is short and sweet , and Bay keeps you turning the pages. Check it out.

The Devil at the Crossroads

The Devil at the Crossroads
By James Barwick
Published: 1986

Spring 1940: As the Nazi war machine prepares to invade France, two members of the SS arrive a Wewelsberg for a meeting with SS leader Heinrich Himmler. This meeting will send the SS agents to France on a desperate manhunt.

Meanwhile in Paris down and out American artist Theo Chandler discovers that the usherette he'd had a fling with, Jacqueline Claudel, has been murdered. Soon after meeting Jacquelines sister Anne-Marie, Chandler finds him self the prime suspect, and that Anne-Marie may be the only one who can clear his name...if she lives long enough.

Better by far then Shadow of the Wolf, the novel still falls short of The Hangman's Crusade. Still it is well written and should keep you turning the pages. Check it out if you get the chance.

The Hangman's Crusade

The Hangman's Crusade
By James Barwick
Published: 1981

Jim Franklyn is an American correspondant in Munich during the first half of the Second World War. For most reporters Jim is a little too chummy with the Nazi regime. What they don't know is that Jim Franklyn is a (reluctent) agent of the OSS. The boozing, womanizer is lying low for the most part hoping to avoid having to do any real spy work, but a late night visit to the local Gestapo headquarters leads to a meeting with a German Countess. The Countess' possess contacts with dissident German Army officers, even more important, she possess knoweldge of the impending Holocaust. As Jim Franklyn finds himself stirred to action, Reinhard Heydrich, the most ruthless man in the Third Reich has arrived in Prague. Heydrich has been sent to carry out the opening stages of the Holocaust and prepare the way for Fall-Ost, an atrocity to dwarf even the Final Solution. When Hitler declares war on America, the cold calculating Heydrich will seek an alliance with the Vatican, itself torn with infighting, that could end the war, with Heydrich as Europe's absolute master

James Barwick second novel is much better then their first. Gone are the annoying moments of Deus Ex that plagued Shadow of the Wolf. Instead we have a chilling and compelling description of what might have happend in the Reich during late 1941- early 1942. Barwicks exploration of the machinations behind Heydrichs death is convincing, throughout I was convinced that they had probably struck closer to the truth then anyone will ever realize. Highly reccomended.
